Notebook Designer

Wyn Notebooks provides a flexible canvas that combines note-taking features with data visualization and analysis. You can add, arrange, and manage different types of content blocks to the canvas. This allows you to create pages that contain both textual narrative and interactive visualizations.

To create a notebook:

  • Add datasets in the Data Binding panel.

  • Configure the notebook general and default chart properties in the inspector panel.

  • Start adding blocks to the notebook in the workspace.

  • Preview the notebook.

Notebook Designer


The notebook designer has the following elements and panels:

Toolbar

Click the Preview button in the toolbar to navigate to a screen to view how users will see the notebook when rendered. Click the back button to get back to the designer.

In the Notebook tab of the toolbar, click the Document Settings to open the inspector and change the properties of the notebook, click the Data Binding button to open the data binding panel. Alternatively click the Collapse Inspector icon to open or collapse the inspector.

You can add datasets to the notebook to bind blocks in the the data bind panel.

Inspector Panel

The inspector on the right side of the designer are used to set notebook and block properties. Click the Document Settings button in the toolbar or hover on the right side to open the inspector.

Workspace

When you create a new notebook, you are presented with a blank canvas in the middle. You add blocks to the canvas using the block menu or using keyboard shortcuts. The blocks are added consecutively.

Notebook ToC

On the right side of the workspace, an automatically generated table of content appears that displays the headings of the notebook for quick navigation. You can hide and unhide the table of content at any time to make more room for the notebook content.
