In Wyn Dashboards (and notebooks), you can rename data attributes in two different contexts:
At the dataset level – this changes how the field appears every time the dataset is used.
At the scenario (visualization) level – this changes how the field label is displayed only within a specific chart, KPI, or visualization.
This guide walks through both approaches.
Renaming attributes at the dataset level ensures that the new name is available every time this dataset is bound to a visualization.
Example: Renaming an attribute in Sales Data
In the Data Binding tab, click + Add.
Search for SalesData in the Choose Data window and click OK.
The dataset’s attributes appear in the Data Binding tab on the right-hand side.
Hover over an attribute (for example, Revenue) to reveal the gear icon.
Click the gear icon → choose Rename….
In the Rename window, enter the new name.
Example: rename Revenue to Total Revenue.
Click OK to save.
Now, everywhere you use this dataset, the attribute will appear as Total Revenue.
Sometimes you only want to rename how an attribute appears inside a single visualization without affecting the underlying dataset. This is useful when you want to adjust terminology for clarity or presentation.
Example: Renaming an attribute in a KPI Chart
In the Dashboard Toolbox, open the Data Visualization node.
Drag a KPI Chart onto the canvas.
The Data Binding tab opens automatically on the right-hand side. Complete steps 1–3 from above to add the SalesData dataset.
You will notice the binding slots for the KPI Chart (e.g., Actual Value). Drag and drop the Revenue attribute into the Actual Value slot.
By default, the KPI will display Sum of Revenue. To change this so that only Revenue is shown, hover over the bound field (Sum of Revenue) in the binding slot.
Click the gear icon → select Rename….
In the Rename window, type Revenue and click OK.
The KPI Chart now displays Revenue as the title, instead of the default Sum of Revenue.
