Output Target

Output Target Icon

A a data flow must have at least one Output Target as the last ETL command in a flow. The output of this command is the result set that gets returned to the data model or cached in a data file. A data flow that doesn't have an output target command is invalid and cannot be saved.

The output of the last command(s) in the flow should be connected to the input of the Output Target. When a data flow is executed, a Data File is created or updated on the Wyn Server. Data Files are used in data models, reports or dashboards.

Configuration

Output Target Configuration

In the configuration pane, you can:

  • Rename the command. The name of this command will be the name of the table in the dataset or data model.

  • Select which fields to include in the output that is returned to the data model or data file.

Preview the result set that will be returned to data model or cached in a Data File in the Data tab.

As a best practice, you should always give the Output Target ETL commands in your data flow a name otherwise you could end up with many numbered data files starting with Output Target
