Bullet Graph

The Bullet Graph is designed for KPI tracking. It compares an actual value against a target and optionally a forecast, showing progress in a compact visual format.

To add a Bullet Graph:

  1. Click the + icon next to Columns and select Bullet Graph from the dropdown menu.

  2. A new column is created with three data binding slots:

    • Actual Value → the current measure (e.g., Sales Amount).

    • Target Value → the expected goal or benchmark.

    • Forecast Value (optional) → a projected or forecasted value.

  3. Drag and drop the appropriate data attributes into each slot.

Note: The Rows binding slot is shared across the KPI Matrix and defines the categories for which the bullet comparisons are displayed.

Bullet Graph Settings

To configure the appearance and behavior of the Bullet Graph within a KPI Matrix:

  1. In the Data Binding panel, locate the Bullet Graph section.

  2. Click the ellipsis (⋯) menu next to Bullet Graph, and from the dropdown, select Settings.

  3. This opens the Bullet Graph Settings dialog, where you can customize the display of the bullet graph, including its dimensions, range thresholds, and colors.

Settings Overview

Setting

Description

Height (%)

Controls the vertical height of the bullet graph line, which includes the Actual Value, Target Value, and Forecast Value bars. A value of 100% means the bullet graph fills the entire height of the KPI Matrix cell.

Maximum (%)

Defines the upper limit of the performance range, relative to the Target Value. By default, this is set to 120% to allow the graph to display values that exceed the target. Decreasing this value reduces the scale of the performance range.

Maximum Color

Sets the color for the maximum performance segment, the section farthest to the right on the range bar. You can choose a color from the color picker.

Good (%)

Defines the upper boundary of the good performance range. By default, this value is set to 80%.

Good Color

Sets the color of the good segment, which represents satisfactory performance.

Bad (%)

Defines the upper boundary of the bad performance range. By default, this value is set to 60%.

Bad Color

Sets the color for the bad performance segment, which represents underperformance.

Tick Unit (%)

Specifies the spacing between tick marks along the bullet graph scale. Increasing this value increases the distance between ticks.

Actual Color

Sets the color of the Actual Value bar, which represents the achieved performance.

Target Color

Sets the color of the Target Value indicator, which typically appears as a thin line across the graph.

Forecast Color

Sets the color of the Forecast Value bar, which represents the projected performance if a forecast value is bound.

Notes

  • The bullet graph is divided into three performance segments — Bad, Good, and Maximum — which correspond to the percentage thresholds defined in the settings.

  • If the Actual Value exceeds the Maximum (%) threshold, the actual bar will be displayed using the Maximum Color.

  • You can use the color settings to visually distinguish performance levels, making it easier to evaluate actual, target, and forecast values at a glance.
