Animation

Animation controls how a visualization appears when the dashboard is previewed. Entrance animations help draw attention to key insights, guide the viewer’s eye, or create a sense of movement as scenarios load on the page. When used thoughtfully, animations can improve the user experience without distracting from the underlying data.

Note: Animation is available for all scenarios.

To configure animation, select your chart and open the Inspector Panel. Under Entrance Animation, use the dropdown to choose how the scenario animates into view when the dashboard preview begins.

Available Entrance Animations

You can choose from the following animation types:

SlideInDown, SlideInLeft, SlideInRight, SlideInUp, BackInDown, BackInLeft, BackInRight, BackInUp, FadeIn, FadeInDown, FadeInLeft, FadeInRight, FadeInUp, BounceIn, BounceInDown, BounceInLeft, BounceInRight, BounceInUp, LightSpeedInLeft, LightSpeedInRight, RotateIn, RotateInDownLeft, RotateInDownRight, RotateInUpLeft, RotateInUpRight, ZoomIn, ZoomInDown, ZoomInLeft, ZoomInRight, ZoomInUp.

You can further customize the animation by adjusting the Delay and Duration, both defined in seconds. Delay determines how long the system waits before beginning the animation, and Duration controls how long the animation takes to complete.

Here is an example of a column chart using the SlideInDown entrance animation.

Automatic Carousel

In addition to entrance animations, you can enable an automatic carousel for your scenario. The carousel animates each element of the chart in sequence—one after the other—creating a staged reveal that highlights the structure of the data. You can set the Interval to control how many seconds the system waits between animating each element.

Here is an example of a column chart with where the Automatic Carousel has been enabled and the Interval has been set to 4 seconds.
