Chart Type

The Change Chart Type Screenshot 2025-07-03 at 2.32.15 PM button is one of the data exploration buttons available when you select a scenario in the dashboard designer. This feature allows you to quickly transform a chart into a different visualization type without re-binding or reconfiguring the underlying data.

What It Does

Clicking the Change Chart Type button opens a panel that displays a library of supported chart types as icons. These include both standard charts and ECharts. You can scroll through or search chart types by name to find the one you want to switch to.

Once a new chart type is selected, the existing scenario is instantly re-rendered using that chart type. The original data bindings and field configurations remain intact and are automatically mapped to the new visualization, wherever applicable.

Key Features

  • Data preserved: The existing measures and dimensions remain bound to the new chart type.

  • Instant transformation: The scenario updates immediately when you choose a new chart.

  • Searchable catalog: Use the search bar in the panel to quickly locate a specific chart type.

  • Visual previews: Icons for each chart type give you a quick sense of how your data might appear.

Supported Chart Types

You can switch between all chart types supported by Wyn Enterprise, including:

  • Bar, Column, Line, Area

  • Pie, Donut, Funnel

  • Scatter, Bubble

  • Gauge, Radar

  • ECharts (e.g., 3D Column, Combined, Conditional)

The system ensures that incompatible mappings (e.g., 3D fields in a 2D chart) are adjusted automatically or ignored gracefully.

Use Cases

  • Quickly experiment with different ways to visualize the same data.

  • Present alternative perspectives to stakeholders during dashboard reviews.

  • Find the most effective chart type for communication or analysis.

Best Practices

  • After changing the chart type, review the scenario settings (like axes, tooltips, or formatting) to ensure they align with the new visualization.

  • Some advanced customizations from the original chart may not carry over if the new type doesn’t support them.
